(UPDATE: Several concerned readers assured me that 'lil GW was relatively popular amongst a certain segment of the world - so, in order to be fair, I looked up his ranking for his only released published work, "Born To Steal", on Amazon.com. 'Lil GW ranks at 142,169 for the more desirable hardcover, and 193,355 for paperback. To put that into perspective, "Man Eating Bugs: The Art and Science of Eating Insects (Paperback)" is ranked at 129,356, the obscure but tittilating 8 year-old work"Kniting with Dog Hair" is ranked 100,367, and, the 4 year-old "Mah Jong Handbook" is ranked at 20,373. Lower is better. So I am still trying to find evidence for his gravitas as a pundit or success as an author. In fairness, his new, unreleased book is in the 39K numbers today, up from 100K yesterday - but nobody has read it and evaluated it yet, and the Mah Jong book still slaps it down, so I'm not sure that is bragging rights. Perhaps we can have a dead pool to see if Dog Hair knitting or Mah Jong books pull out to the lead once his is out there....Having said that, I am sort of curious about the dog hair book - is that so wrong?) A fan on the Yahoo boards pointed out an interesting statistic to me today. First off, recognize that the whole point to having a blog is to have people read it. Otherwise, there is no point. Using Alexa.com (an online ranking service), TheSanityCheck places at about number 64.4K ranking for this week. The lower the number, the more people read your blog. A few weeks back we were actually at about 39K, but that fluctuates – I’m not sure why, but it does. A few weeks before we were at 200K. But traffic has been fairly steady. Well, I tried to find some less popular websites than 'lil GW’s but had difficulty doing it without stooping to private sites featuring an albino’s skin pigmentation issue-driven poetry, and resultant struggle against persecution. Not that it didn’t move me. But apparently it isn’t for everyone. Maybe translated from the German would make it more accessible. Don’t know… So 'lil GW (a tribute to notorious convicted felon and marginally talented gangsta rapper 'lil Kim) is going to have to mount a full court press to get neck and neck with Scabies.com, which comes in at just over a million, or twice as popular as he. Is it bad when a sexually transmitted parasite gets twice the traffic? Or how about we play a little softball given that his blog has been online about two weeks less than TheSanityCheck.com - how about setting one’s sites more realistically, with Crackwhore.com, at 1.5 million ranking? One has to start somewhere, and a 25%+ increase in traffic would be a big pickup in his ratings. I’m not even sure what Crackwhore.com is about, don’t want to know. On the “There’s hope” front, Bumfights.com fell from 1.5 million to 2.5 million, a stunning reversal – so there’s almost nowhere to go but up for 'lil GW. Maybe his following will take off, and the excitement will build for his loyal following, who will celebrate, dancing in the streets, vindicated. Both of them.

Bobo-Quit gloating! We all identified Gary as a lying loser within 24 hours of his famous now forgotten statement that naked shorting is good for us. Reminds me of when my Mother would tell me it was time for an enema. Since Gary's failed attempt at stardom and selling a book you are probably the most significant reason that his site gets any hits at all. Between the Bunny bashing on his blog and the whores who post non-stop drivel about the Bunny on Yahoo and link his site there would only be Gary and a few future inmates frequenting his site without you. Bobo- Why don't you do something meaningful with your life; like meeting up with Chastity at the Cheetah Club? HAHAHAHA!

I hate to say it, but I would never have gone to Gary W's book or even looked at Amazon comments from his readers if not for finding his link in the Doggerel section.

I had never heard of him until reading your blog. I had read his articles in Business Week about shorting and thought they were biased when I first read them, but assumed they were some unnamed staff reporter.

They say there is no such thing as bad publicity. Maybe he winds us up on purpose to get attention.

Maybe you should refer to the rogues by last initial. Gary W. for instance. You can reprint his commentary here, (editing out last name under fair use copyright), without giving him free publicity.

I know a lot of people who have canceled subscriptions to Barrons, Wallstreet Journal, Marketwatch, Business Week about their blatant support for naked shorting and others who have written to the cable companies to complain about CNBC infotainment like Cramer's Yellfest.

The subscription numbers are with online sites, not traditional media and the Gary W.'s are hoping to siphon off some of your audience the way the naked shorts parasitically siphon off investor value.

Your commentary is hilarious. Weiss is a nobody, my guess paid or asked to try to cast aspersions on naked shorting in his book- if anyone buys it, maybe a small problem. I cant imagine why he'd be so incredibly stupid. Keep up the work, word is getting out.

Dave - The saga of 'lil GW is born. De-Weissing it was easy, but the stink is hard to get out of the furniture. It's like some sort of rot. Vile, common, and lingering. Memorable only in how offensive it is, and how pungent. I have to go open some windows... Judging by the web numbers, I could publish a recipe book using cactus and diesel fuel and it would do better. But that is just me...

Maybe 'lil GW needs some keywords? Ever since we started to refer to naked short selling as Teen Asian Naked Short Selling our hits increased dramatically - what was that all about, ya think?

I'm very happy with our ranking for being online for all of about 6 weeks now. I'll see if I can get any footage that will boost our ranking, and you will be the first to know. FWIW, I've never heard of 89.com, but I'm glad my readership is here to alert me to anything I might be missing. As to your desire for poop photos, I'm afraid you are on your own...although perhaps that is what 'lil GW is missing?
