While politicians babble on, the United States is racing into an metaphorical economic "Black Hole".  Contingent liabilities now have gone PAST the tipping point where anything other than a figurative revolution will begin a decades-long clean up of excesses of the past 80 years.

After the German hyperinflation of the late 1920's and early 1930's, there was only one solution left:  Wipe out all monetary forms of debt across the board.  I can see no solution short of this that can touch the problems we face, literally a mountain of $100 Trillion in obligations, most of which will ultimately not be paid.

The single largest disaster facing this country is a set of irreconcilable debt loads, which just from entitlements literally swamps our ship of State with a monstrous mess.

Basic integrity is gone from our national system and psyche, and I am not talking about just Wall Street, or what little of it remains.

Many Americans are still deluded into thinking that these problems are still decades away, and our machine-like economy can overcome any obstacle.  To those who feel this way, I say abandon all hope, you are lost.  Medicaid will go first around 2012, then Medicare a year or so later, then about 10 years later, the greatest Ponzi scheme of all times, our Social Security system, will begin to implode.

Over the past 15 years or more, over $14 Trillion by some reliable estimates has been shipped offshore, evading taxes, and removing those assets from our economy.  The focus of these nefarious efforts has been money laundering, tax evasion, and in many cases, outright theft.  Or to paraphrase what has been repeatedly said by counsel to the victims in these cases, these forces have engaged in wholesale lying, cheating and stealing on a level unprecedented in world history.

Not only must the miscreants here face loss of everything they have, they must face a life of bonded servitude to try and repay some small amount of what they have stolen.  I must abandon my Christian trait of forgiveness, and we must insure that the punishments meted out here deny those who have created this treasonous mess not only the loss of everything they have, but any future except a lifetime of penal slavery.

I hear our new leaders talking about our Government being the solution provider to the beginning of a workout of this train wreck.  I find this hypocrisy to be sickening.  Letting our Government even to have a hand in this is gross insanity.

I have spent a major part of my professional life supporting entrepreneurs and the private sector in building jobs and economies, not just here, but around the world.  It should go without saying that no one could do what I have with the very earliest stages of new organizations and be anything but a fundamental optimist.

My optimism is gone, a straight crash to cynicism with no stop at pessimism on the way.

I have openly supported our USG in attempts to get effective attention and actions taken on this relatively straight forward problem.  The Government employees (as distinct from our political class) are NOT the problem.  Rather, the American people are the problem.  They are continually seduced by politicians with the ethics of pond scum, almost without exception.

In a Democracy, the bill stops with the individual's ballot.  I repeat again, if you want to know who is responsible for this mess, LOOK IN A MIRROR.

I think it was Edmond Burke and others commentators who said this quite effectively.  "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."  Well, millions of "Good" Americans have done precisely that, and now it has come time to pay up.

The great risk is simply the very existence of our Democracy, something taken for granted and scoffed at by the very parties who have run amok here.  Let's see how they like socialist prisons.

Re: Fading Hope: Racing into a Economic Black Hole

Bud,
I share your cynicism, but don't blame the voter. If it is true that votes were stolen in the last two elections, we have to consider that we have had 8 years of a rogue government. Everything points to that . www.velvetrevolution.us.
